Dr. Ellen Cowan won Appalachian's second annual Undergraduate Student Faculty Mentorship Excellence Award on Thursday, April 21 as part of the Celebration of Student Research and Creative Endeavors. Students Morgan Baker and Jacob Dorsett both won the undergraduate poster competition; Morgan's research (Determining the annealing curve of radiation halos in quartz grains through heating experiments) was conducted under the mentorship of Dr. Gabe Casale, and Jake's research (Where is the southern end of the San Andreas Fault?
